MY LITTLE REINDEER    by Grace

This is my little reindeer
I love him very much.
He loves to fly around
And do all kinds of stuff.

Nobody knows that I have this pet
If anyone sees him I hope they forget.
Then on a dark afternoon I got a call.
Santa needed my reindeer so his sleigh wouldn't fall.

And on the day before Christmas I looked into the sky
As my reindeer named Rudolph sounded me a goodbye
As Rudolph joined the sleigh his nose so bright,
I watched the reindeer swirl and twirl into the night.

HOW COAL RUINED CHRISTMAS
(THOUGH IT PROBABLY WOULD’VE ANYWAY)     by AineM
Santa Clause coughed. It was dark and dirty in the mines, and the air was tainted. There was a coal shortage in the North Pole - as keeping up the ‘cosy fireplace’ image was very coal consuming. Normally this would be an elf's job - not for the big boss. But here he was, in the Dwarf Mines, harvesting coal. The elevator ground to a stop. Ignoring the sign which read “AUTHORISED PERSONNEL ONLY. NO JOLLY FAT MEN.- Santa picked up a sack and began to fill it with lumps of coal.
“Never again”, croaked Santa, as he slumped against the side of the elevator. He pulled the lever, and it trundled upwards. With a gut-wrenching sound, the wire that suspended the elevator snapped, and plummeted down into the darkness. Santa managed to jump out of the elevator, right before the roof fell in. He was left in darkness. A harsh light was shoved in front of his face. He was saved! Once they made out Santa’s features, the light withdrew.
“It’s you.”, said the dwarf in a gruff voice, already walking away. Dwarves didn’t particularly like him.
"You can’t leave me herel The North Pole needs mel” cried Santa. The dwarf continued walking. “See if I care!”

On the 25th of December      by Ruth
One foggy night on the 25th of December, we all heard something on the roof with a clatter. We all ran down to the sitting room. When we got there, we saw Santa. He said Ho Ho Ho! We all stood there - we could not believe our eyes. Santa was actually in our house! His bag was stuck in our chimney!
Santa asked Dad to help him free his bag. Mum and I went out to the kitchen to get Santa come fresh milk and some mince pies. We all sat down and Santa ate his mince pies and drank the milk. He told us stories about his journeys around the world that night and he said that he still had to go to Paris and the rest of Ireland.
Then he said he had to go and that we could go with him! We got into the sleigh and saw Comet and the rest of the reindeer. We flew high in the sky and we were looking down at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was magic. On the way home I got to ride the sleigh. Then we got home.
I suddenly woke up. It had all been a dream. But that morning was the best Christmas morning ever!

The 25th of December     by EllieD

I woke up on the 25th of December. I was very excited and ran down the stairs. When I looked out the window I saw a lot of snow everywhere. I couldn't wait to see what Santa had brought me so I went into the sitting room and I was really happy when I saw all my surprises.

Me and my brother Billy had great fun playing with all our toys all day. Then we had our
dinner and pulled all the crackers that were under the tree. It was a great day and I'm really looking forward to this year. I hope everyone has lovely day! Happy Christmas, everyone!

DECEMBER 25th IN THE STABLES     by Darragh

It is December 25th, and I am on my way down to the shed when I hear some noises. I think it's my dad feeding the horses. But as I get closer, I start to hear multiple voices. Then it goes silent. I hear footsteps of the horse king Shadow. He lies down and asks the foals and yearlings what they got from Santa. I hear Storm say she got a bale of hay off him Bella says she got a bag of horse treats. Ruby and Rollo both said they got a bag of carrots. Then I hear him ask the ponies what they got Molly said she got a new headcollar, Woody said he got a garlic lick and a new lead rope and then Opal said she got a bag of apples.

I rush up to the house to tell everyone what I heard but they didn't believe me. So, I brought them down to the shed and told them to listen carefully. We hear Shadow say he got a golden apple. My family sounds amazed. As the day goes on, I keep going down to see if I could hear anything else. After a couple of hours, I heard Shadow tell everyone to gather around for their special dinner. The following morning when I woke, I jumped out of bed put on my dressing gown and wellies and ran down to the stables to listen again. But all I heard this time was horses neighing. As I walked back up to the house very disappointed I suddenly realized the story my grandmother told me when I was younger was true that on Christmas day Santa really did give animals the gift of speech for one day.

SAVED HOLIDAY     by Dylan

It was December 24th and a cold, snowy night.
Santa's crashed sleigh was barely in sight.
"How did this happen?" cried Santa Claus.
But the only one listening was the elf called Paws.

"I'm losing my magic! The sleigh can't float up!"
Said Paws as he drank cocoa from his cup.
St Nicholas sighed "I'll call The Gang"
"Who’s the Gang?" asked Paws speaking in slang.

A few minutes later Mrs Claus arrived
Followed by an elf by the name of Clyde.
"Why am I here? asked Clyde surprised.
"Paws is the only one who can fly the ride!"

"No more questions my folks, we better get going!"
Cried Santa whose cheeks were red and were glowing.
They each got on a reindeer and flew all around,
Through cities, villages and each quiet town.

They worked without stopping all through the night
As presents were delivered as fast as light.
A village called Borris, last stop on the map
Where Paws started feeling his powers were back.

Suddenly the sleigh magically appeared,
"Ho Ho Ho!" Santa laughed and cheered.
And this is the story about Christmas Night
And how it was saved by The Gang and their might.
What happened on Christmas Day [When Jesus was born]
by Therese

Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth. One night an angel came to Mary and told her she was expecting a new baby and that he would be the new king. Mary and Joseph rode their donkey to Bethlehem. They knocked on several doors, but all the inns were full. The last inn was full but it had a vacant stable so they allowed them to stay for the night. On the 25th of December, Jesus Christ was born in the stable. Mary washed him and wrapped him in the clothes she had brought with her. Angel Gabriel appeared to the shepherds and told them the good news, that Baby Jesus was born. The shepherds set off to see Jesus. Soon they found the stable, knocked on the door and crept inside. After a while the shepherds got up and told everyone that they had seen God's son. Then they went back to the hills outside Bethlehem. The wise men followed the star that brought them to the stable. They came with gifts such as Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to Jesus Christ.

Story in a Poem   by AoifeB

The night before Christmas there wasn’t a sound.
Everyone was asleep - my thoughts raced round.
All of a sudden there was a noise
I ran down the stairs to a pile of toys.

I saw an old man, his beard white as snow
And a bag full of gifts all wrapped with a bow.
He walked to the tree and unloaded his sack
Then went back up the chimney, his bag on his back.

I looked out the window, saw him fly away
With nine little reindeer leading the way.
I woke up this morning and ran down the stair
To find out that none of the presents were there!
Cookies       by EimearO

The timer in the oven beeped. I looked up sleepily.  “Mummy, the oven’s finished!”. Susan pounced into the room wearing a red dress. “Okay sweetie, I’m coming!”, Mistress’s voice floated in. My ears perked up.
It was Christmas Eve and Mistress was baking cookies. Hopefully without icing, Mistress wasn’t good with a piping bag.
“*COUGH™” Susan spluttered as smoke bellowed from the open oven.
Mistress placed the tray on the countertop. They smelled…adequate.

I got up and stretched.  “Mummy, are these for Santa?” Susan asked. “Those are for the cousins” Mistress pointed, “these are for us and Santa.”  Susan reached out “AHHHHHHHH! HOT!!!”
“Come, run your hand under water” Mistress sighed. When she wasn’t looking, I grabbed a cookie and ran back to my bed, with it in my mouth.

Later, while the family were asleep, I lay in bed watching the fireplace. A chunk of dark dust fell onto the carpet, followed by a man in red.  I got up. “Sniff*. He smelled sweet so I dropped the cookie by his boots. He picked it up. “I’m sure Rudolph will enjoy this”, he smiled, “Back to bed, good dog”.
Next morning, Susan came downstairs. “Mummy! Look!”, she said, “Fido got a teddy too!”
A Girl’s Nollag      by AoibheannO

Hi I’m Sahrah and I’ll be taking you along with me this Christmas. It was the 24/12/21 everyone was so excited we all went shopping. I bought my sister Ava a notebook and a
tube of Rolos.

Good morning! We all ran downstairs to see what Santa brought. I was so happy I got the iPad I wanted. Then we got breakfast and headed to mass. I met my friend after and we chattered about what are presents we got. You'll never guess what I found. A piece of Santa’s sleigh! Ian and I grabbed my dog from the shed, glued wings to his back and flew to the North Pole! When I got there I explained everything to Santa. He thanked me dearly and flew my dog and me home! Then I went to my cousins’ and ate dinner and we also exchanged gifts!
THE YEAR I SAW SANTA     by Dexter

On the 25th of December a.k.a. Christmas t’was cold and damp. The time was 4 a.m. Max woke with a start. He heard footsteps on the roof. He ran to the siting room and heard HO HO HO! He squealed with excitement as Santa came down the chimney. He wondered if Santa brought his new bike. Max saw Santa holding a bike shaped present. Santa now put the bike under the Christmas tree. With a WHOOSH! he was gone. Max stood there amazed at what he saw.

Santa's Reindeer Chaos
by Robyn

One Christmas Eve Santa’s lead reindeer Rudolf got Covid 19. Santa panicked and panicked. Santa ran into the chemist and asked what do I do if my reindeer’s got Covid? She said "Sir please calm down and take this test and wear a mask. Ok said Santa. So Santa took the test and wore a mask. Then Santa ran back in and said "So what now?” She said “Go to a vet".

Santa ran to the vet. "Hi" said the vet “How can I help you? “My reindeer got Covid. Can you help me”. “Sure, where is he?” “Africa -where do you think? The North Pole, obviously!”

“Ok get him”. So Santa ran and got Rudolf. “Alright I’ll run a few tests. He’s negative”.
“That can't be possible. How?
Nollaig is saved!!!”
The 24th of December     by SeanO

It was the 24th of December Santa was getting ready for Christmas. Santa and his elves were building lots of toys. Then he loaded the Sleigh and called the reindeer. All of them came running except there was one problem, Rudolph’s nose wasn’t glowing. Santa looked everywhere. He could not find a battery suitable. The only ones that fitted were AA batteries.

Santa decided to fly without Rudolph’s nose glowing. They crashed at a house belonging to two dogs named Danni and Joey. They found Santa who explained what happened and said he needed help. They tried to think of things for hours and finally the dogs said they could stick iPhones to their noses and help guide the sleigh if the phones had torch mode on. They went with Santa, delivered all the presents and got home just in time before the owners woke up.

Story by Aoibhlinn
The night was cold for the shepherd boy who sat with his sheep on the hill. As he sat three figures appeared in the distance. The shepherd boy walked over to see who they were. It was man loading his donkey on top of which sat a woman. "Please" the man said, “Do know of a place to stay? My wife is heavily pregnant and needs somewhere to birth her child”. The boy didn't know what to do. There were no places to stay in the town because of the Imperial command of having everyone return to their hometown to sign a tax. He thought for a while then said that he knew a man who owned a stable which would the unoccupied and he knew it wasn’t much but it was the most he could do. The man thanked him profusely and hurried off with his wife. The boy watched them as they went, then after looking looking for a while he sat on the hill eventually falling asleep. The next morning he woke and though he didn't know it, it was the very first Christmas.
THE BUSY MONTH     by DarraghC

The month of December was a very busy month for the Byrne family. Along with preparing for the big day it was also three of the family members’ birthdays.

On the 7th of December it was the youngest family member, Julian's, birthday. They had a party at their house and little Julian was a very happy camper when going to bed that night.

Then ten days later, on the 17th it was the twins Shaniqua and Andrew's birthday. They had a party but this time it was at the local soccer pitch. They had the best fun of their lives and at the end they had a massive boys vs girls soccer match. The match was a lot of fun and the boys won 9-8 in the end.

After that the family began to bake cakes and gingerbread houses for the big day, when they would be going to Granny's house to celebrate. They were baking for the next week until it was finally Christmas Eve when the children left out some snacks for Santa and went to bed hoping that they would get all the presents they asked for.

A Haunted Christmas at Borris N.S     by EmmaK

On Jingle Day the 6th class had an idea. They were going to spend the night at school. A rumour was going around that there was a ghost at school. Stuff was going on like flicking lights, whiteboards turning on and doors opening. They thought it would be fun trying to find out if there really was a ghost. Teacher was going to be there. Once everyone was there the lights were flickering but the light switch wasn’t moving. Then the board turned on and started to play Wordspace. It was saying things like 'GO HOME'. To calm down we went to the hall.

When we were there people started tripping over nothing. We all started freaking out so teacher said we should go back to the classroom and watch a movie. When got in there the lights stopped flashing and the board was normal. We picked Home Alone but when we started to watch it the screen started to glitch. Then it connected to teacher’s phone and went onto teachers’ camera. Everyone was in their festive cloths he so he took a photo of us anyway. When he went to go check it everything was normal until someone pointed out a white blur. No one knew what it was but someone suggested it was the ghost. After, we went home.

No one if it was a prank or if there really is a ghost!
