Music Generation
Music Generation is Ireland’s National Music Education Programme. It helps children and young people access music education in their own locality.

Music Generation provides funding and support to Local Music Education Partnerships throughout Ireland to develop music education services. Music Generation is funded by U2 and The Ireland Funds together with Local Music Education Partnerships. Find out more about it here.

Our children take part in various ways. Young children sing.  Others learn tin whistle.  They have external trained teachers and sometimes perform a selection of what they've learnt later in the school year.

Each week's news and activities are posted below. Enjoying them? Or got any comment on them? Email Gavin at [email protected]  with your suggestions. They're looking for feedback

5th class physical vocal warm-up (Isolations):
End-of-school-year 2019 performance in the Visual Centre, Carlow
Pre-Christmas display by all classes. Click on top left of main photo to play slideshow.
Creative movement is a central part of the Early Childhood Music Generation programme and forms a part of each class, giving the children great opportunities to express themselves using their bodies.  This can be in response to ideas and themes, and to both live and recorded music.  As part of the Autumn theme, the class has been exploring movement based on a theme of the Oak Forest in Autumn.  Here the children are moving as Squirrels and Trees, making many different and unusual shapes of their own creation.  As you can imagine, after Storm Ophelia, many trees ended up on the floor!
